Initial Session
I will always start by asking what are your goals related to nutrition and your health. If you don’t know, that’s ok! We will figure it out together.
I want to hear aspects of your culture, lifestyle, level of support, quality of life, and overall well being (physically and emotionally) as all of these aspects will make an impact in your nutrition and health. I also want to learn of your challenges and successes so far to help me gain insight of your journey.
As you are the expert in your own health history, I will gather and review details of your:
medical/surgical history
weight trends
diagnostic tests, including labs
GI and non-GI symptoms
current medications
vitamin, mineral, and/or herbal supplements
prebiotic and/or probiotics
relationship to diet
your way of nourishment (diet, enteral/parenteral nutrition)
foods, fluids, portions, eating habits, and environments
level of physical activity
stress and mindfulness
sleep patterns
Once the issues have been identified, we will discuss and decide where we want to start to move you forward.
Together then, we will set goals and develop a plan that you feel like you can practice with to feel better, enhance your strengths, and work through the barriers of nutrition.
