I love what I do!

I have always been fascinated with how the nutrients we eat interact with our body to help us grow, function and heal.

My goal is to be your guide - helping you find your best path

I became a registered dietitian (RD) so I can use my specialized training in the science of nutrition to help others feel better with using foods as therapy

I believe nutrition is meant to be a holistic journey, and like all journeys of purpose, are meant to be traveled with someone to guide you. Someone to help you find the most meaningful areas to focus and to keep you from pitfalls

EDUCATION

I have been a registered dietitian since 2004, credentialed by the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

I am also a certified nutrition support clinician (CNSC), credentialed by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification and a certified health education specialist (CHES), credentialed by the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing.

I also hold a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition (Loma Linda University) and Bachelor’s degree in nutrition (California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo).

background

I began my career working with patients admitted to the hospital diagnosed with head/neck, gynecology, and GI-related cancers at Stanford Health Care. I provided nutrition care to patients recovering from GI surgery there.

I later came into the Digestive Health Center there to inaugurate and build nutrition services for the GI and liver clinics. There, I continued to develop my specialty and worked closely with patients diagnosed with celiac disease, dumping syndrome, gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, irritable bowel syndrome, issues with ostomies, pancreatitis, SIBO, scleroderma, cirrhosis, and fatty liver.

There, I also co-led with a gastroenterologist the development of Nutrition Support and Intestinal Rehabilitation programs to bring specialized care to patients on enteral/parenteral nutrition and to those diagnosed with short bowel syndrome and complex IBD. I also served as the intestinal and liver transplant dietitian to provide pre- and post-transplant care.

Beyond caring for my patients, some of my significant contributions include providing lectures to GI fellowships, presenting at GI conferences, and having close to 30 manuscripts published in prestigious GI journals. Furthermore, I'm proud to be the Nutrition Co-Editor for the Journal of Practical Gastroenterology to bring a nutrition voice into the literature.

Now, in private practice! My interactions with my patients throughout the years has given me the skills, the expertise, and the knowledge to counsel for any nutrition issue related to GI or liver health.
